There will be times when the customer needs a new steam turbine and may need a quicker delivery than what the O.E.M. can supply with a new unit or they want to match dimensions of an older model. This is the perfect time to look at a reconditioned / remanufactured turbine. These steam turbines can range from a reconditioned used turbine that re-uses all the internal components that are in good shape all the way to a steam turbine where all internal components are new. The only re-used part would be the casing which would be given a hydrostatic test and a non-destructive test (NDT) to verify integrity. |
Other tests that are beneficial are a mechanical run test and an overspeed trip check. It is also a good idea to have the work scope spelled out with what
components are re-used and new. Also, what tests are being performed.
Ask if there is a warranty and for what period of time. It is possible
to purchase a good reconditioned turbine and get an excellent delivery
along with a good price. The customer may want to consider a reconditioned
steam turbine as an alternate
to a new one every time. It always pays to check these days. A good deal
may be available. We can also repair existing steam turbines if you can send it out. We do quick turn-arounds. |
